I’ve been a fan of Christopher Willits ever since I stumbled upon his online music instructional video series, ”What You Talkin’ About Willits?”. Ever since watching all of those videos more then once, I dived into his music head first. Christopher Willit’s music can’t be explained or simply heard…it almost has to be felt. His approach to music is more then just rhythm and melody…it has a connection of human interaction and a storyline of one’s fate. His deep pads, made with just his guitar, compliment the rich textures he has continuing on in his songs for a super relaxing, yet, immersing connection. His music has been such an inspiration in the way that I approach my own music today.
Ancient Future is his second release with visionary pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, after the 2008 release of Ocean Fire. ”As a whole, Ancient Future functions as a piece about the creation, acceptance and completion of one’s fate and all of life’s experiences, following a trajectory through inner conflict, resolution and, ultimately, acceptance. The six-song cycle moves through a narrative of sorts, each piece with a story to tell and an aspect of life to explore.”
“This album came together so fluidly. Every aspect of this release was dialed into the intention of the album- to create a space of opening and release. It has been a beautiful flowing process of collaboration. Sakamoto and I complete each other’s thoughts here. After 10 years of putting out music, exploring and listening to my creative process, I feel like I have truly begun with this album. Everything I have learned so far, creatively, technically, and spiritually has come to this expression. We are so happy, grateful, and humbled to share this sound with you.”
