Whenever I journal with pen and paper I feel like I’m joining the ranks of other guys who have done it in the past – like Teddy Roosevelt or Jack Kerouac. You know…history and literary greats. To me – it feels a heck-of-a-lot better then typing on a computer. There’s definitely pros and cons of each…like “What if you lose your journal?” “Your journal’s not password protected.” – honestly…it seems like the computer might be winning. It still doesn’t change the fact that using pen and paper is more appealing to me then lugging a laptop around. Point for notebook.
But the thing that has bothered me is I haven’t been able to really grab a hold of a notebook I truly love. Well…ok…my Moleskine comes pretty darn close. I’ve been a Moleskine guy for about 3-5 years. I love ‘em. But there’s something that I just don’t “love” about them. You know?
Today in my internet perusings – I found Baron Fig. A Kickstarter to help launch a new type of notebook that is marketed for people like me. I could write a new paragraph telling you all about this exciting new product…but they worked so hard on this video…so you must watch it.
I would love it if they combined the dots / lines / and blank notebooks into one. I hate carrying my journal and sketchbook at the same time. Let’s combine the two! Boom. Genius.
I’m headed to Europe in November and plan on doing a lot of creative work over there…making music, writing, filmmaking, and honestly I want to have my thoughts and adventures put onto paper instead of in the cloud and that’s why Baron Fig might be my new notebook choice. It’s classy and it opens flat! That’s freaking awesome.
It’s that time of year in Alaska when everybody is going camping or fishing and trying to spend as much time outside as they can before the winter hits and we’re all stuck inside with our TV’s and booze. To make the nights out camping a little brighter, Snow Peak has created the Hozuki lantern. The Hozuki has 3 settings – low, medium, and high, or you can set it to do all 3 at the same time resembling a flickering candle – so you can get that loving feeling (but I guess a campfire does that pretty well anyways).
A little spendy for such a small item…but if you got the dough and want that extra something to make camping that much cooler – well this might be perfect for you.
